2020 Sunspot Urban Farm-sponsored ART WALK
Sunspot Urban Farm holds a strong belief that good farming and good art build good community. On August 14, we partnered with 8 artists in our home neighborhood for an art walk. Originally hatched by one of our artist neighbors, the concept grew in scope, fueled by a desire to bring people together and offer a break from the COVID crisis and from an oppressive heat wave and drought. Pretty soon, voilà! Eight artists and inspired neighbors created a wonderful, socially distant gathering across 5 yards enjoyed by curious and eager folks from all over town. For a few hours the corner of our street was transformed, with beautiful art and live music. Some folks even brought picnic dinners. There was definitely a little "farm magic" in the August air (in addition to smoke from the wildfires). Thanks to all those optimists who came, and a special thanks to the creative and talented artists who graced us with their beautiful work and a sense of adventure in these difficult times.
Special thanks to our local artists (listed below with links), farm event organizers (Beth Yackel and Amy Hahn), and Natasha Varian for her lovely sign making.
